cab wisdom

After having a quick dinner with Yet last night, I decided to call it a day around 11PM. Waited for about 10 minutes for a decent cab. Who would have thought I would encounter my much needed words of wisdom in such a setting. I can vividly remember our conversation, here goes:

Cab driver: Galing gimik ma'am?
Me: Hindi po, galing trabaho.
Cab driver: Walang gimik ngayon? Parang ang daming tao dito sa Eastwood ah.
Me: Hindi po ako mahilig sa ganun, magastos eh.
Cab driver: Naku. Sabi nga ng mga matatanda, "What is money?"
Me: *thought bubble - "English! Kuya, apply ka sa amin!"
Cab driver: Ang dami dyan sobrang abala sa pag-iipon, hindi na sila nag-eenjoy. Pag namatay ka, hindi mo madadala ang pera.
Me: Oo nga eh.
Cab driver: Dapat nag-eenjoy ka. Madami namang gimik dyan. Gimik kasama pamilya, gimik kasama yung mahal mo.
Me: *nervous laugh*
Cab driver: Bakit? Di mo ba naranasan iyon?
Me: Haha, naranasan naman po. *trying to change the topic* matagal na po kayo nagddrive?
Cab driver: 13 years na. Masaya ako sa trabaho ko dahil iba-iba yung mga nakikilala ko. Dati yung trabaho ko, yun lang yung buhay ko. Wala na akong panahon para sa sarili ko, sa pamilya ko. Di ako masaya. Pero ngayon, kahit buong araw ako dito, ok lang, masaya kasi.
Me: Ah... *thought bubble: Thank you God for this sign.

That struck me, and got me lost in my own thoughts. He continued telling stories about his passengers and why he loves his job. I wish I could also say the same thing.

'tis the season

We've spent the past few weekends cheering on the sidelines, donned in blue and white. I've watched more games this year than I have in the last 2 seasons, the thrill every single game is just priceless! This year's lineup shows a lot of promise, from the fearless rookies to the headstrong veterans. My favorite veteran has improved a lot this year, I just hope he'd smile some more when Denise takes our photo in the next post-game mass! :P looking forward to round 2!

I've been one with the weather lately, feeling all gloomy and distracted. Seeing my friends today made me feel a bit lighter, and the constant reminder to just lift everything up and not worry is something I should really believe in wholeheartedly. Special shout out to Denise for always bringing me back to happy land. Tomorrow will take care of itself, I know.

Looking forward to mi familia's trip to HK! A few more weeks to go! Can't wait! Ü
